Engine Lineup for the Ford F-250

You can select one of three motors to power your Ford F-250. There are a few other performance options you can consider, as well. One is the automatic transmission, which comes in either a 6-speed or 10-speed guise. The other is the size of the fuel tank, which can measure 29 gallons, 34 gallons, or 48 gallons.

As for the engines themselves, you can pick between a 6.2L V8, a 6.7L V8 turbo diesel, or a 7.3L V8. Here are the horsepower and torque outputs for each option:

  • 6.2L V8 makes 385 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque.
  • 6.7L V8 turbo diesel makes 475 horsepower and 1,050 lb-ft of torque.
  • 7.3L V8 makes 430 horsepower and 475 lb-ft of torque.

Maximum Towing and Payload for Ford F-250

If you're considering the Ford F-250, you're likely doing so for a primary reason: the capability. As with every truck in the Ford Super Duty Series, the F-250 is a marvel of towing and payload capacities.

When the truck is properly configured, the maximum conventional towing capacity will peak at 20,000 pounds. Using a 5th-wheel or gooseneck rig will bump that maximum towing figure up to 22,800 pounds.

Finally, for payload, the Ford F-250 can support a maximum 4,260 pounds!


Ford F-250 Trim Levels and Configurations

The Ford F-250 can be had in a range of trims and with a variety of wheelbase lengths and cab sizes.

The wheelbase of the Regular Cab measures 141.6 inches. Here are the four other wheelbase lengths you can choose from, depending on the configuration:

  • Short wheelbase SuperCab measures 148 inches.
  • Long wheelbase SuperCab measures 164.2 inches.
  • Short wheelbase Crew Cab measures 159.8 inches.
  • Long wheelbase Crew Cab measures 176 inches.

Then there are the trim options. The trim you select will play a role in the features your truck offers.

Standard is the XL trim, quickly followed by the XLT and Lariat. The rest of the trim options in order are:

  • King Ranch
  • Platinum
  • Limited
