Power and Performance

There are three powerful engines to choose from under the hood of the Ford Super Duty. The standard is a 6.2L Flex Fuel Gas V8 that produces 385 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque.

If you're looking for a more powerful gas engine, opt for the available 7.3L V8. This motor churns out 430 horsepower and 475 lb-ft of torque.

The third engine available for the Super Duty truck is a 6.7L Power Stroke® V8 Turbo Diesel with a whopping 475 horsepower and 1,050 lb-ft of torque. The diesel engine also comes with engine-exhaust braking. When activated, it restricts the turbocharger's exhaust flow to slow the vehicle and offer greater control.

Most Super Duty models come standard with a TorqShift® 10-speed automatic transmission designed to improve shift performance. It even comes with five drive modes to choose from:

• Normal
• Slippery
• Tow/Haul
• Eco
• Deep Sand/Snow

Towing and Payload Capacity

The Ford Super Duty models can tow quite a bit. When properly equipped, the F-450 can tow a maximum of 37,000 pounds and carry a maximum payload of 6,210 pounds.

You can get the maximum payload capacity in a Super Duty truck; the F-350 offers 7,850 pounds of payload capacity. Its maximum towing capacity, when properly equipped, comes to 35,750 pounds.

The Super Duty F-250 is also quite impressive with its maximum towing capacity. When properly equipped, the truck can tow up to 22,800 pounds. You can also load up the truck bed with 4,260 pounds of payload.

The Ford Super Duty has several features to help make towing and loading the truck bed easier, too:

• The available integrated tailgate step helps you load the truck bed with ease.
• The available remote tailgate release opens your tailgate with a press of your key fob so that you can prepare the truck.
