When you're the proud owner of a Ford Escape, you'll want to make sure you acclimate yourself with the different dashboard lights that can appear during your treks. To help our friends in the Glen Allen, Ashland, and Short Pump area, our team at Richmond Ford West is going to give you some important details about your indicator and warning lamps. We'll show you the difference between these lights, and we'll even let you know what you should do when they appear while you're out on the road.

The Difference Between Indicators & Warning Lamps

It's important to acknowledge that there are two different types of lights that can appear on your Ford Escape's dashboard. Indicator lamps are lights that appear after you've activated a system or component. If these lights come on, you shouldn't worry because there's nothing wrong. Warning lamps, on the other hand, are telling you, in real-time, that a system or component is malfunctioning. If the light blinks, it means that you should take immediate measures to prevent severe damage to your vehicle.

Ford Escape Indicator Lamps

  • Cruise Control- If this indicator comes on, it's only because you've activated your cruise control system. This light will disappear when you deactivate the system and continue to drive manually.
  • Direction Indicator- When you activate a turn signal, a direction indicator will pop on and it will remain until you've completed your turn.
  • High Beam- When you engage your high beams to provide a clearer view while driving at night, this light will stay on until you disable your high beams.
  • Traction and Stability Control- If this light appears, and it's flashing, it means that your 2017 Escape has experienced a loss of traction and that the system activated to help the vehicle remain on its path. Once the vehicle regains traction, this light will go away and the system will disengage.
