In a press release from earlier today, Ford announced a new engine option for the upcoming 2017 F-150. The second-generation 3.5-liter EcoBoost V-6 engine boasts a class-leading 470 pound-feet of torque, more than many V-8's with double the displacement. Horsepower has also improved to 375.

“The 2017 Ford F-150 now delivers the best torque in the segment,” says Raj Nair, Ford executive vice president, Product Development, and chief technical officer. “This class-leading torque arrives with a transformative 10-speed automatic that improves nearly every aspect of F-150 performance.”

The transmission is the first volume-production 10-speed automatic transmission in the industry. Ford's more capable powertrain not only delivers better acceleration and performance, it also improves the F-150's towing and hauling capacities as well. Furthermore, it is the first and only pickup in the industry to offer a twin-turbo gasoline engine option. The 2017 Ford F-150 begins arriving in dealerships nationwide this fall.
