The Ford Expedition is a spacious and reliable SUV that can be a great help for when it's time to get the family out on the road. However, in order to keep this SUV in great shape and performing at its most efficient, you'll want to keep up with the recommended services. At Richmond Ford West, we're here to help our friends in Glen Allen, Ashland, and Short Pump learn more about the different services that their SUV needs over the years.

Understanding Your Expedition Maintenance Schedule

The maintenance schedule of your Ford Expedition consists of several mileage intervals. These intervals occur every 10,000 miles and include a set of services and inspections that you'll want to have performed. Most of these services get repeated, so you'll want to keep an eye out for when it's time to have that specific component or system serviced again.

Now that you're familiar with what your maintenance schedule entails, you're ready to learn even more about the services and inspections that will keep your Ford Expedition out on the road!

Ford Expedition Maintenance by Milage

  • 10,000 Miles: This service interval includes one of the most important and most repeated forms of automotive service: the oil change. On top of the oil and filter change, you'll need to have your tires rotated and several components inspected, including your cooling system, exhaust system, transmission fluid level, brake components, and the steering and suspension components.
  • 20,000 Miles: At 20,000 miles, you'll need to have the 10,000-mileage services repeated. However, this interval adds a cabin air filter replacement to the list of services.
  • 30,000 Miles: During this service interval, you simply add an engine air filter replacement to the growing list of services and inspections.
  • 100,000 Miles: Up until this point, most of the services and inspections for the last 70,000 miles are just repeated. This service interval adds a new batch of automotive services, including a spark plug replacement and changing your Ford Expedition's orange coolant. This interval also adds an inspection of your accessory drive belt(s), which will need to be inspected at every service interval from now on and replaced if cracked, torn, or damaged.
  • 150,000 Miles: Once you reach this particular service interval, you'll essentially have every service performed and almost every component inspected. On top of all the repeated services, this visit will include a change of the front and rear axle lubricant, changing the transfer case fluid and the automatic transmission fluid, and even changing the orange coolant again. At this point, you'll need to have your accessory drive belt(s) replaced if you haven't already.
