A Hybrid Ford F-150?!
Yes, for 2021, the Ford F-150 features an available fully hybrid motor-the only full hybrid option in the full-size pickup class.
While a bevy of other V6 and V8 engines can be placed under the hood of your F-150, the hybrid option will best straddle the line between efficiency and the type of power this truck is known for. Ironically, it's the hybrid that generates the most power from the model's 6-engine lineup, making 430 horsepower and 570 lb-ft of torque.
The hybrid has a 3.5L PowerBoostâ„¢ Full Hybrid V6 engine meshing gas power and electric power to reach an approximate EPA-estimated range of 750 miles on a single tank gas.
There are still plenty of other splendid motors to select between when crafting your own 2021 F-150. The base 3.3L is no slouch, making 290 horsepower and 265 lb-ft of torque. There's also a 2.7L V6 using EcoBoost® technology to generate 325 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque.
The remaining three options place a heavy emphasis on torque…
- 5.0L V8:Â 400 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque
- 3.5L V6:Â 400 horsepower and 500 lb-ft of torque
- 3.0L V6:Â 250 horsepower and 440 lb-ft of torque
A Range of Towing & Payload Capacities
As you might imagine, having such a varied performance lineup means the 2021 Ford F-150 has a wide range of towing and payload capacities. No matter the exact configuration you choose, though, your truck will be a reliable and sturdy companion once the going gets tough.
At its peak, being assisted by a 10-speed automatic transmission, the 2021 Ford F-150 can reach a maximum towing capacity of 14,000 pounds and a maximum payload capacity of 3,325 pounds. Technology to help make towing a little easier for you is prominent, too.
A good example is BLIS® (Blind Spot Information System) with Trailer Coverage. This system takes into account a trailer or ATV or anything you might have attached to the rear end while you drive. If you attempt to change lanes on the highway with this setup, BLIS® will alert you of any vehicles that may be driving in your blind spot. Furthermore, visibility is enhanced by the available telescoping trailer tow mirrors that can easily be adjusted while you're on the go.Â
Ramping up the Interior Niceties
Settling into the cabin of the 2021Â Ford F-150Â is going to put a smile on your face and the faces of your passengers. Up front, some new technology and comfort features are introduced, while the rear seats have nifty storage compartments for your valuables.
The available 12-inch touchscreen display is the largest ever offered in an F-150. Coupled with the massive and intuitive screen is a new SYNC® 4 infotainment interface. With the updated interface, you'll enjoy quick responses to your commands, whether the commands are voice-activated or touch-sensitive.
Even if you aren't around your F-150, you'll have the chance to interact with the vehicle using the FordPassâ„¢ App on your phone. Some of the abilities this application gives you access to is to lock, unlock, or start your truck remotely. You can also receive updates about key service reminders, find a gas station nearby to fill up the tank, and much more.
Below the back seats is an available folding, lockable under-seat storage compartment capable of holding large items as well as small ones.
