Ford Edge vs Nissan Murano Capability

As you travel around Virginia, you'll want to make sure that you're driving an SUV that can handle all four seasons. That's something you get with both the Ford Edge and Nissan Murano. Both have an available all-wheel drive (AWD) system that's smart enough to adapt to changing roadway conditions to improve traction control.
How about engine power, though? The Edge and Murano both deliver here with available or standard V6 engines that provide a hefty kick of energy. However, the V6 engine the Edge generates more power overall, as you'll see below:
 | Ford Edge | Nissan Murano |
Engine | 2.7L EcoBoost® V6 | 3.5L V6 |
Horsepower | 335 horsepower | 260 horsepower |
Torque | 380 lb-ft | 240 lb-ft |
Not only is the V6 engine in the Edge more powerful, but it's also turbocharged. The Murano, unfortunately, doesn't have a turbocharged engine, so you may notice your drive in the Nissan missing a bit of that oomph you get with the Ford.
Interior Features of the Edge and Murano
If you spend a lot of time behind the wheel, then you understand the importance of having a comfortable and convenient interior. The cabin of your SUV should have all the amenities you need to stay connected and entertained during a long trip. That's something both the Edge and Murano have.
Both vehicles have a standard or available 8-inch touchscreen in the center stack, which allows you to safely access connectivity and entertainment apps from your smartphone when connected to available Apple CarPlay® or Android Auto™.
When it's time to pack, though, you may have to leave a few things behind if you're driving the Murano, as you can see from their cargo volume specs below:
- Ford Edge cargo volume:Â 73.4 cubic feet (maximum)
- Nissan Murano cargo volume:Â 67 cubic feet (maximum)

With an extra 6.4 cubic feet of total cargo volume, the Edge allows you to pack much more heavily.
Driver-Assistive Features
Both the Ford Edge and Nissan Murano put safety first, as you can tell from their inclusion of standard and available driver-assistive features, like:
- Smart Cruise Control
- Blind-spot monitoring
- Rear-view camera
- Automatic high-beam headlights
They also both have a standard or available forward-collision monitor with automatic emergency braking that can hit the brakes for you in the event of an impending collision. The Edge takes this an extra step with available Evasive Steering Assist, which can automatically steer you out of the way of an oncoming hazard if braking alone isn't enough to mitigate a collision.
The Murano, unfortunately, doesn't have a comparable feature.
