Richmond Ford West is hiring a Service Porter/Shuttle Driver for our service department. Service Advisor

Richmond Ford West in Glen Allen, VA is seeking a full-time Service Advisor.

Responsibilities:
  • Greet customers in a friendly and professional manner
  • Gather and update vehicle and customer contact information
  • Perform a brief "Walk Around" visual inspection of each vehicle checking for damage and basic needs (ex. tires, wiper blades, lights)
  • Ascertain customer and vehicle needs by listening to the customer's description of symptoms and concerns, clarifying by asking probing questions.  Checking vehicle service history, and reviewing maintenance schedules
  • Initiate the repair order process by data entry into a computer data management system describing symptoms/problems, as well as repairs and services needed
  • Verify warranty or extended warranty service contract coverage as well as any maintenance and wear contract coverage
  • Obtain approval signatures and authorization for diagnosis or services requested
  • Answer questions about service outcomes and timeframes for completion
  • Arrange for towing and alternative transportation options such as shuttle van service and Rental/Loaner cars as needed
  • Schedule and coordinate appointments, vehicle drop-off, and vehicle pick-up times
  • Communicate with technicians regarding necessary maintenance, repairs and possible alternatives or options to present to the customer
  • Communicate with technicians and parts department personnel about parts pricing and availability
  • Develop estimates by pricing parts, materials, labor, shop supplies/hazardous waste disposal fees, and sales taxes
  • Calculate customer's payment responsibility, including deductibles
  • Use your knowledge of our products and services to sell or provide customers with in-depth information about available parts and service options to customers.
  • Obtain approval for maintenance and repairs needed from customers and/or warranty companies
  • Manage a portion of the dealership's daily workflow and schedule.
  • Maintain accurate automotive records by recording concerns, repairs performed as well as future recommendations
  • Call, text, or email customers regularly to update them about service status changes and vehicle pick-up times.
  • Ensure details about services rendered and costs are explained to customers at time of delivery
  • Maintain positive customer relationships to ensure repeat business
  • Update job knowledge by participating in continued educational opportunities 

Requirements:

  • No experience required if candidate is capable with a strong desire to learn
  • Ford experience a plus but not required
  • Typing skills a plus
  • Automative knowledge and/or customer service experience are a plus
