When Will the 2020 Ford Explorer Drop?

If you’re anticipating the opportunity to get behind the wheel of the 2020 Ford Explorer, you’ll only have to wait until the summer, as Ford announced the expected release date as the summer of 2019.

Although it’s not yet possible to take this family-hauling SUV for a cruise around the local landscape, there are a number of features that have already been announced. And, as soon as the Ford Explorer hits the dealership, we’ll be happy to help you get settled behind the wheel!

Safety & Driver-Assistance Technology

The Ford Explorer has always been an industry trailblazer when it comes to safety, and the 2020 model is equipped with Ford Co-Pilot 360™. This is a comprehensive suite of highly advanced features designed to keep you protected in all driving scenarios.

To start, there’s BLIS® (Blind Spot Information System) with Cross-Traffic Alert that will give you a signal if there’s another vehicle driving in your blind spot as you attempt to switch lanes on the highway. Additionally, the Lane-Keeping System works to keep you on the straight-and-narrow by providing alerts if you begin to drift outside your respective lane.

Another system found in this suite is the Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB). Essentially, Pre-Collision Assist will give you an audible warning if a front-facing collision is expected, providing you the opportunity to react. If you fail to react, the system will attempt to decelerate for you in an effort to avoid a crash.

Finally, there’s the Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop-and-Go Lane Centering. What separates this cruise control from past editions is that it will monitor and hold your preferred distance behind the vehicle in front of you. It also reads speed limits and adjusts your speed accordingly.

Performance Power & Efficiency

The 2020 Ford Explorer, like many of its past iterations, provides you with exceptional performance in the form of both strength and fuel economy.

EPA-estimates project the 2020 Ford Explorer to receive at least 500 miles between gas station fill-ups. Couple that robust figure with a smooth-shifting transmission and the Explorer is an exceptional family-hauler and road-tripper. Hoping to bring the trailer along? Well, you can certainly do so thanks to 5,000 pounds of maximum towing capacity!
